Incorporated environmental protectionEnvironmental protection is an important theme in Bosch innovations. We develop products that incorporate environmental considerations from the outset.
Eco-friendly production
Bosch protects the environment at the manufacturing stage. Resources are used as sparingly as possible in our plants.
Three plants which manufacture components for the automotive industry in Bursa, Turkey, operate according to Bosch's integrated management system and in 2003, their local management systems were certified to ISO 14001. The year 2003 saw the installation of new surface gas container and storage tank at the diesel systems plant, while a new waste storage facility went into operation at the chassis systems facility.
Our products in use: eco-friendly and effective
For their entire lifespan, our products stand for high efficiency and low consumption of valuable resources. Here are three examples:
Economic cars for cleaner air
the automotive industry, we find it especially important to keep developing effective environmental protection measures.
High pressure direct injection in diesel engines can reduce consumption by up to 30%. The systems are called Common Rail, for instance. In spark ignition engines, the electronic gasoline direct injection system known as DI-Motronic can save up to 15% of fuel consumption. It also cuts emissions significantly.
Those little household chores
Every day, many people work in their household. To reduce energy consumption as much as possible here, we keep improving the efficiency of our household appliances.
Since 1990, we have reduced the average energy and water consumption of our household appliances by 50%. More than three quarters of appliances produced by Bosch in Germany qualify for the European Energy Label's "A" energy efficient rating.
Environmental protection in your garden
Using our gardening tools also means conserving resources. Our silent shredder's special operating method reduces noise pollution. It received the "Blue Angel" environmental seal.
Safe disposal of old appliances
Good design means easy recycling
Our products are designed to be easily disposable and recyclable at the end of their useful life. The Bosch rotary hammer is an example. It has easily dismounted plug-in connectors, one standard screw size and clear labeling on plastic parts. At the end of its useful life, it can be simply disassembled into its components and then recycled.
