Erich’s dream

The final frontier

Erich Klein knows exactly where he was at 8:18 p.m. on July 20, 1969: watching the first man walk on the moon. Just like 500 million other people, he witnessed the first lunar landing. “I was sitting in front of the TV with my grandfather. I was so excited!”

The boy from Texas could not believe his eyes: “I had always been obsessed with airplanes and rockets. And now I saw exactly what they could do.” From that moment on, he started collecting newspaper articles about space travel. He was especially fascinated by Mars. Forty-six years later, Erich is an aerospace engineer and is involved in making the journey to the red planet a reality. Sometimes, he cannot believe his luck: “Experiencing the whole thing so up close and personal is a dream come true.”
